Followed heart pattern up to the last hdc. After the hdc, sc in next stitch, slip stitch in next stitch and in each stitch around to top center of heart. Tie off and weave in ends.
(i did not do the spiral part because I liked the way the heart looked without it.) Attached heart to a simple hdc (back loop only) headband with contrasting sc border.
