Notes

Modifying to fit my 7year old granddaughter. 24” chest, 15” length.

Following pattern instructions for size Extra Small, but using a smaller hook (H-5.0mm) and thinner yarn (thin worsted, almost dk). I have the bodice complete and will have my granddaughter try it on for size before continuing. Bodice is measuring 12” across, so should be spot on for a 24’ chest.

I’m estimating about 25 rounds for the torso with a finished length of 15” after ribbing.

I ended up with 28 rounds for the torso section (14.5” from top of shoulder to bottom of sweater before ribbing) and 3 rounds for the sleeves.

I added one strand of Patons Lace with the Poppy yarn for the trim and ribbing. I slip stitched around the neck and sleeve openings. I followed pattern directions for bottom ribbing in rows of 5 stitches. The bottom ribbing added 1” to overall length, so 15.5”. Width of sweater was 11.25” so I must have tightened my gauge a bit.

End result was a little tight, (she wears a 7/8) more like a size 6. I would probably keep the same hook size and follow instructions for a size small instead of extra small next time for a child size 7/8.
