I followed the “Adria” pattern for the main portion of the cups, increasing to 85 stitches. Each cup measures 17cm from bottom edge to top point and 22 cm across bottom edge. I crocheted only the main cup portions fairly tight. The rest I crocheted at my normal tension.
NOTE: For the following my stitch counts will be different because I’m using sport weight yarn and a 3.25mm hook.
I then added the picot trim from the “Sophia” pattern. I had 41 chain 1 spaces in the first round and 40 picots in the 2nd round. (No picot in the in the chain 1 space at the top of the cup because this is where you add the ties). I had 37 single crochets across the bottom edge of each cup. (About one sc every two rows.) For the ties at the top of each cup, I chained 90 and slip stitched back down the chain. (89 ss)
Bottom band, I used “Sophia” pattern, (I chained 100) I followed the pattern for the first 2 rows with my stitch counts (99 sc in each row). I then crocheted rows 3, 4, and 5, but ripped them out after I realized the instructions did not match the photo. (I should have looked at others’ project notes, first.) Now I am attempting to recreate the rest of the pattern from the photo. I went ahead and whip stitched the band to the cups after row 3. Row 3: crocheted like the edging on the cups (dc, ch 1, sk1, dc) Rows 4,5,6
I single crocheted across (99 per row). Just winged the last four rows. Had to do a little fudging to make the shells centered.
NOTE: The main thing I did wrong was not to adjust the length of the starting chain to match the smaller gauge I was working with. I should have made the starting chain longer.
