#5 of 11 Shawls in 2011

June 20th-Tried out the size 10 needles and it works well. At row 17, I have 80 stitches + the 6 edge. I know that I did not work it just the same as the pattern, but I lost count at some point. I think that as long as I have the 4’s for the Bramble stitch, I should be OK. If not, I will frog it back and start over. Knit up to the first repeat on the Bramble stitch. Here is where I am taking up the stolen notes from katherinelynn04.

CO 4 sts knit 14 rows, pick up 11 sts (total of 14)
k3 p8 k3
k3, * yo, k1 across to 3 sts before end, yo k3
k3, p across, k3

Then follow the following increases throughout (including when working in lace pattern):
Row 1: k3, yo, k across, yo, k3
Rows 2 & 4: k3, p across, k3
Row 3: k3, yo, k1, m1R, k across to 4 sts before end, m1L, k1, yo, k3.

DO NOT include the yo’s in the bramble pattern until there are 4 full sts (on each side) before the next bramble repeat. If you start using these sts before there are four your brambles will not turn out correctly. )

June 24th-Finished the first repeat of the first lace panel. That means up to row 28. That is the third picture. I really like the Bramble pattern stitch. It is not as lose as the sample, but I may try using a larger needle size the next time. But for the first repeat, it’s fine.
Finished the first ball just at the end of Section 2. I did knit the next lace panel with the 10 1/2’s. I will go back to the 10’s for Section 3.

June 25th-The second ball ended on the first row of the third repeat of the lace panel. I am really liking this pattern. There are a few kinks to get out, but it is beautiful.

June 28th-The third ball of yarn is ending at the start of repeat 4. I stayed with the size 10 1/2’s. I am not going to have enough yarn to do all five repeats. Oh well, it’s still big enough.
Got to the end of repeat 4 and don’t know if I have enough to BO. I think that I may be able to get more of this yarn. If I can, I might just try for more.

June 30th-I don’t have enough to BO, so I ticked back to row 8 and even then just had the yarn to BO. I love the shawl and think that I will make this again. Took the 5 middle pictures on a Tiffiny lamp, unblocked.
