I’m proud of having used up a very old yarn from my stash. I bought it at a garage sale within a household clearence in the late 80s. It wasn’t cheap anyway, the seller knew the wealth of the yarn.
The yarn underwent several metamorphoses from jacket to sweater and even an attempt on the knitting machine. The project was already finished, only the sleeves had yet to be knitted.
You may ask why I wasn’t happy with the projects. The secret was disclosed when I was at a colour consultancy. I will look awful in all kinds of yellow.
After knitting I put the coverlet into the washer and it came out smooth and fluffy.
Before knitting I devided all colours in five parts
But my cat - acting the innocent - grabbed a fifth of Kidsilk Haze and it was never seen again.
Therefore I had to improvise with the last section.
The coverlet ist for my mother’s birthday. She often complaints that on journeys she feels chilly but won’t take a huge cover with her. And she wanted something for her neck to slumber in the car.
So I sew some sort of “envelope”. Do you call it “travel pillow”?
The whole thing is very handbagfriendly because there are only 200g to carry with you.
I made some modifications in leaving the picot edging. I started with a provisional cast-on and therefore was able to finish with a three needle bind-off.
Besides I hate the intricate way to knit short-rows the way American or English knitter do. This wrapping and turning is way too time consuming.
I prefer this method
I made a short video of the knitting process
