I started this sweater very enthusiastic in 2009, immediately after our journey to Island but let it rest more than six years.
When I met with some friends to spend a knitting weekend I decided only to take UFOs with me.
My husband and I were glad when I came home with the finished sweater.
Though I don’t speak any Islandic I managed the pattern using a common online-translator. The pattern is well-written and easy to understand.
I finished the neckline with the original Islandic cast-off which corresponds beautifully with the cast-on of the borders, a very helpful technique.
My husband chose the colors for himself.
When I knitted the first yoke-rounds I weft in the strands. As you might see in one of the pictures this looked very messy.
I frogged and tried another technique fixing the long strands. This also was helpfull.
It’s not neccessary to weave in long strands. After the first wash in the machine all strands stick to the knitting.
