Patent! Das dachte ich auf den ersten Blick
Tatsächlich ist es ein Häkelmuster. Und zwar sind es halbe “halbe Stäbchen”.
Diese habe ich auch zum allerersten Mal verwendet, überhaupt erst kennengelernt. Die Technik habe ich vorher nie gesehen.
Es ist anfangs ein wenig mühselig, aber wenn man etwas in den Ablauf eingestiegen ist, klappt es ganz gut.
Die halben Halben werden so gemacht: der Beginn ist, wie beim normalen Stäbchen, bis man drei Schlingen auf der Nadel hat. Dann zieht man die vorderste (linke) Schlinge durch die beiden anderen.
Das Muster sieht vorn und hinten exakt gleich aus, in der Tat, wie das gestrickte Patent.
Früher habe ich häkeln auch etwas einfältig und hausbacken empfunden, aber seit seit ca. 10 Jahren ganz neue Techniken und Anwendungen aufgekommen sind, sehe ich die Variationsmöglichkeiten auch ins Uferlose schwappen. Besonders für meine Charity-Decken aus Spendenwolle ideal, dass ich immer wieder neue Muster testen kann.
Ich erlebe immer noch oft, dass die Häkelei so etwas in die Ecke der minder bedeutsamen Handarbeit gesteckt wird (außer vielleicht Spitzenhäkeln oder irische Häkelarbeit), aber da ist sie längst heraus.

Fisherman’s Rib! I thought so at first sight
In fact, it’s a crochet pattern. They are half “half double crochets”.
I used this for the very first time, and only got to know it. I’ve never seen the technique before.
It’s a bit of a hassle at first, but once you’ve gotten into the process, it works out pretty well.
The half “half double crochets” are done like this: the beginning is the same as usual double crochet until you have three loops on the needle. Then you pull the foremost (left) loop through the other two.
The pattern looks exactly the same on the front and back, in fact, like the knitted patent.
I used to find crocheting to be a bit simple-minded and homely, but for about 10 years now completely new techniques and applications have emerged, I see the possibilities of variation spilling over into the endless. Especially ideal for my charity blankets made of donated yarn, so that I can always test new samples.
I still often see crochet stuff like that tucked into the corner of less significant handcraft (except maybe lace crochet or Irish crochet), but it’s long gone.
