Notes

Janie has an excellent color perception as well as very good knitting and crocheting skills.

I was admiring her Star and decided to work a cushion with a music-box inside for my niece.

I worked in Swing-Knitting-Technique and there won’t be a pattern because it’s freeform short-row-knitting.
For experienced Swing-Knitters adequate information:

  • work six diamonds for one star, you’ll need two for a cushion
  • provisional cast-on
  • 32 sts - work 64 rows in garter
  • Melody width: 14, Melody 2-2-2-2-2-2
  • increase 1 in the beginning of every second row
  • decrease 1 in the end of every second row
  • bind-off in 63rd row and cast on 31 sts from edge of previous diamond
  • put provisional cast-on on needle and work three-needle-bind-off or sew with kitchener stitch.
  • sew stars and stuff with fiberfill

If you want to work a variation where the star points have a twist to the right side, change the decreases and increases such as:

  • decrease 1 in the beginning of every second row
  • increase 1 in the end of every second row

The music-box plays ‘Amazing Grace’. It was a hard choice out of over 60 melodies.
