This year I was a little late with the knitted gift for my 15 year old niece. But I had more time as usual because she made a trip around Australia with her other Aunt and her family who moved there two years ago. She returned just some days ago.

The yarn was bought at a wool dealer who also makes matresses and bedding all from natural materials. He sells the same yarn qualities since 40 years and we buy them since 30 years now.

For knitting I used my Brother KH 830 with ribber and modified the sweater pattern for machine knitting which was not a lot of work.
I only had to knit the right back/sleeve a second time when I noticed while sewing that the ribbing doesn’t fit to the shawl part.

I’m admiring the knitters who knit this 2-2-ribbing all by hand. Knitting with the machine was done in 4 hours.

After sewing I dyed the sweater with EMO colors. I made very good experiences with this dye after testing several other brands. It works fine for animal fibres and cotton as well with brillant effects.
To generate the white stripes I used dental floss.

I like the result but I was to careful. More stripes would have intensed the effect.

The sweater is modelled by our neighbor’s daughter who has the same size as my niece.
