Long ago I punched a card with a triangular pattern I adapted from Kaffe Fassetts pattern library.
Three days before Christmas I decides to use this pattern for a tunic / sweater for my niece.
I shouldn’t have done this because this caused a lot of trouble.
I don’t lay the blame on my 27-year-old punchcard knitting machine but on my procrastination of this project
On the first day I knitted the front until 4:30 in the morning. It fell from the machine several times partially and in whole.
In this way it had become clear that I won’t be able to finish the tunic before Christmas Eve.
At 5:45 pm my husband picked me up from the office and we hastened to Wolle Roedel which closes 6 pm exactly.
There I bought a main color to knit back and sleeves in solid color only with a patterned edge.
We drove home instantly so that I could activate my knitting machine.
I finished knitting back and sleeves at three in the morning but I was to tired to knit a cowl.
The next afternoon I was busy sewing the parts together. The threads give you an impression how much time was spent to sew in ends.
I finished midnight and put the tunic into the washing machine.
In the morning - it was Christmas Eve then - I went shopping the foodstuffs for the Christmas days.
After lunch I ironed the sweater and took pictures.
My parents picked the sweater up and drove to my niece who lives 250 km from us.
Some details:
Hung up hems are often very thick. I used thin crotcheting yarn for the inner side, see picture.
I made the cowl the other day using all needles of my machine. I sent the cowl after Christmas by mail and my niece was very happy with it.
