Finally, I have started the edging! While I was off work, recuperating from surgery, I knit on this so hard I developed a blood blister under the skin just above the second joint on my right index finger. Weird.

Anyhow, rather than work the short rows the pattern calls for, I am knitting into the corner stitches multiple times like this:

• 2 stitches from corner’s Center, knit in it twice
• 1 stitch from corner’s Center, knit in it three times
• at corner Center, knit in it four times
• 1 stitch from corner’s Center, knit in it three times
• 2 stitches from corner’s Center, knit in it twice

It took almost a month just to complete the edging. It went faster once I memorized the lace repeat. It also didn’t help when Cooper played with my ball of yarn. He’s just darned lucky he didn’t touch my knitting!
