I loved these mittens so much. Unfortunately, so did my dog.

This was my first pair of mittens, and I found the pattern to be easy, fast and fun. I didn’t think I would have enough yarn, so I made the cuffs smaller than the pattern suggests. I made them in size medium, and there probably would have been enough yarn … maybe just enough.

If you make these in anything but small and can afford it, buy two skeins.

The pattern is knit flat and seamed.

Possum fiber is very, very warm. It feels a bit like cashmere, and I love the softness of it. It also seems to repel water even better than wool.

I purchased possum because I have Raynaud’s Syndrome, and I needed something warmer than wool.

For the few days that I was able to enjoy them before they were destroyed, I layered them with lightweight gloves underneath, and … for the first time in years … I found something that actually worked for me.

I think my dachshund Milo thought they were stuffed dog toys or maybe badgers (ha!), hence the “froggie doggie attack.” He’s a sweet, lovable little guy, and no, I wasn’t wearing the mittens at the time!
