Gandalf done and I’m about a third of the way through Aragorn, second colour change has happened. Things have been going much more smoothly now that I’m done Gimli. Aragorn is particularly smooth because it is row after row of an identical and easy to remember pattern. I also took out some of the past lifelines that I (hopefully) won’t need now, and now I am really starting to see the lace pattern. Looking very nice.

FINALLY! I finally have been able to complete Gimli! Freg, what a nightmare that was. It just took using a ton of stitch markers and my being intensely careful and focused to finally get it done correctly. Now on to Gandalf!

Honest to God, I am incapable of getting past Gimli. I just keep ending up with either too many or too few stitches. It is driving me insane.

Retsarting, mostly because I need something different to work on in between the endless blocks in my sock yarn blanket. AGGRESSIVE use of lifelines is expected. And frankly, I have improved a lot in terms of skill and ability (and speed) in the past year, so I’m hoping this won’t be such a disaster this time.

You know the bald “bad guy” in the Home Alone movies that is always spewing off the long streams of unintelligable curse noises? Yeah… that is me right now. I made a major mistake in my shawl in the middle of Gimli and had to tear back, only to find that my flippin’ life line had slid out without my noticing! GAH! And of course I wasn’t able to just pick up the stitches so I had to frog the whole thing. I’m going to restart the shawl (and finish it, god damn it!) in a bit. I need a break. Frogging it this time was properly upsetting.

Frogged it. I almost finished Gimli but it was just looking crappy. I couldn’t stand the gauge being all crazy any more. So I tore it all out and restarted with size 4 needles. BIG improvement. I have already finished up to Legolas and am going to start Gimli shortly.

May 8, 2014
Maaaaan, the guage is starting to really seem off. I am seriously starting to think I am going to have to frog and start over or else I’m going to end up with a really effed up shawl.

May 6,2014
Started Gimli. I think I probably should have used a smaller needle but I am committed now. I am not frogging everything I have and starting over! Also, a lot of people complain that Wolle’s yarn is difficult to knit with because it isn’t twisted etc. I am having no trouble with it!

The first section (the ring?) took 3 attempts. Boromir took 4 attempts. I have lifelines in and hopefully I won’t need to use them… But I prob will. Haha
