Notes

My first attempt at dyeing.

Materials:
yarn: Trekking Zitron - 75% wool, 25% nylon
dyes: plain dyes fro firer coloring: yello, pistachio and turquoise
other: rubber gloves (ended up not using those), hot water, vinegar, steaming pot, washing up liquid, spoon

Step 1: wash yarn in a bath with washing up liquid, rinse. When it’s there, prepare the dyes (dissolve them in warm/hot water).
Step 2: put dyes on wool fairly evenly with a spoon
Step 3: steam it for about 15-20 minutes
Step 4: let the yarn cool down a little bit
Step 5: rinse until the yarn stops coloring
Step 6: last bath in water with vinegar
Step 7: drying

That’s it :-)

Notes:
What’s up with the blue spot? I didn’t expect that.:-/

I thought I needed to overdye it as there are a couple of places where the color is lighter.
Decided to keep it the way it is - as long as I don’t get terrible pooling when knitting, it’s ok.

What will it be?

  • not socks, definitely :-)
  • thinking of Oriental Lily for my daughter
  • or some Elena Nodel’s skirt/dress
