Destashing - using all the leftovers from various cotton projects I’ve made so far.

Inspired by this entry. I’ll make it without the pattern. => I changed the head completely.

Sometimes I work in the round, sometimes back and forth - whatever suits me at the moment.

Hm, my gauge changed a lot - at the beginning it was quite loose (which gives the impression of a swallowed mouse that’s being digested). And there are also different yarn weights. But, hey, that’s fine as long as my son loves the snake :-)

Since I’ve been asked how to make such a head this is what I did (more or less). It was my improvisation.
When I finished the body I put 2 markers to mark the inc sections for the head. I was crocheting sc in the round and in every 2nd (I guess) row I inc sts where I had markers. They were not placed symetrically but the in such a way that made snake’s “throat” smaller than its head.
After finishing inc I was crocheting back and forth in sc for about 2.5 inches (joining sts at the “throat”) and then I split the head at markers (which were still attached to the beg of head). First I made the top in sc back and forth decreasing in every 4th row until I had 6 sts. I cut yarn and did the same for the bottom, but this time I was dec faster as it was meant to be smaller.
I took dark yarn and made the inside, first palate then the bottom - separately because when I was connecting the middle I joined the tongue. Here remember to chain fewer sts than for the head part as it’ll be too big when you connect everything. I stuffed the head and joined the mouth with sc around.
