Notes

Loved knitting with the Soffili Yak yarn…see my Harvest Cowl. When I saw this design knit up at the Harrogate Stitching show Nov 2016, I decided I had to knit it. The fabric is lovely, soft and light.

Back done
Sleeves….done, but oops in one sleeve (I can’t see how to fix it without ripping back….waaaaayyyyy back :) )
Fronts - almost done!
Have to decide on that sleeve - attempt a repair or rip it back to what, 4” from cast on ???!?!?! Whats a girl to do!

Watch The Avengers while she frogs!

Ready to sew up and finish the collar!

February 26 - collar is done (a very big collar, lots of knitting“ and I’m sewing up the front facings, the collar and finishing the ends…hope to have a ta da photo this week!

March 11, 2017 - ta da! Hildis!!

Finally, ta da photos! Hildis is done. It takes up a full cubby of my sweater storage….it’s a big coatigan and it is so warm…I wore it out to feed the birds today and it is cold outside!!!

Modifications: I couldn’t get my head around the raglan strip section….but I noticed the edge on the collar and my raglan shaping matched without the lighter strip….so I went for it! I love how the edge of the collar and the raglan line match! Otherwise, knit as per the design.

Thoughts: Well, if you want a soft, light yet extremely warm coatigan (knitted coat) Hildis is your design! The slip stitch texture makes a sophisticated fabric. The one colour trim sets it off! I used 5 buttons as 3 just wasn’t enough for me.

The neckline is deep…..hits me right at the bust and the top button is right there. Then you have this wide open neck to fill in where you already have this enormous collar! I LOVE THE COLLAR! So I am going to do what Eiko did and put an extra button and closure to hold the collar closed higher! I love how snuggly this collar is.

All in all a fabulous knit, relatively easy (except for that raglan piece :) ) and a great addition to my knit wardrobe.

Hildis in Sofilli Yak is light yet wonderfully warm! It will make a great travel coat….and will be perfect for those days when you just need to get in and out of the car when running errands!
