Peacock Tail - Base
I based this on the ‘Flower Potholder’ pattern.
Using a darker purple (same as the purple on the body);
Work Rnds 1 & 2 as per pattern.
Rnd 3: Work only 33dc, ch 3, turn and start the shell of the next round here (that is Rnd 4…add in purple metallic thread) - then continue until you have a total of 12 shells, finish off.
Choose a ‘right side’ and continue rows instead of rounds as per pattern - you will only work in rows over the 12shells that you now have - finish off each colour at the end of each row.
Row 4 - darker purple yarn + metallic thread.
Row 5 - lighter purple + metallic thread. (2dc, 1ch, 2dc)
Row 6 - royal blue + metallic thread. (3dc, 1ch, 3dc)
Row 7 - gold + metallic thread. (should be a 7dc row, but instead repeat Row 6).
Row 8 - green + metallic thread. (7dc shell)
Tail Feathers
Individual feather pattern here;
http://www.livingthecraftlife.com/2014/02/peacock-feather...
For each feather I made 2 peacock feather motifs, then crocheted them together with the green metallic thread.
Peacock Tail Feather Colours
COLOUR A: Purple yarn + metallic thread.
COLOUR B: Royal Blue + metallic thread.
COLOUR C: Gold + metallic thread.
COLOUR D: Green + metallic thread.
Head Feathers
Using 2.5mm hook and blue metallic thread,
Ch 12 4sc in 2nd ch from hook, 4sc in next 2sts, 2sc in next st, sl st to end of chain - do not finish off begin another Ch 12 and repeat the above pattern until you have 14 head feathers. Lay your length of feathers flat, then fold in half and sc through the two halves of the starting chain - this should give you two rows of 7 feathers.
Finish off - arrange on head and stitch in place.
