I made the beanie as per my previous ‘Viking-esque Beanie’ using 5.0mm hook.
U.S. crochet terms used.

Puff st = 5 double crochet together.
I ‘anchor’ my puff sts with 1ch pulled tight - ignore the chain when working your next row. If you wish to make them stand out more on your finished item, run a stitch around the outside of the puff, pull it up and secure - sew in ends.

I will be adding chains to join the pieces when I meet with the owner to make it to fit her.

Skirt panels
Made from 2 squares with the ‘studded’ edging.
Front panel will be approx. 20 x 22cms and back panel will be slightly larger.

Front Panel;
Work 30 foundation single crochet, 2ch, turn and hdc to end, 2ch, turn.
* 2hdc, 1 puff st, (6hdc, 1 puff st) x 4, 2hdc, 2ch, turn. (right side)

  • Next 4 rows - 1 hdc in ea st to end, 2ch, turn.
  • 2hdc, 1 puff st, hdc to last 3 sts, 1 puff st, 2hdc, 2ch, turn. (pop puff through to right side of work if you need to). ****

Repeat previous 5 rows (from **** to *) 4 times.

  • Next 4 rows - 1hdc in ea st to end, 2ch, turn.
  • 2hdc, 1 puff st, (6hdc, 1 puff st) x 4, 2hdc, 1ch, turn.
  • 1 row of single crochet, ch 1 and work a round of rev sc around the outer edge of the square, finish off.

Back Panel;
Start with 40fdsc, 2ch, turn and hdc to end, 2ch, turn.
* 2hdc, 1 puff st, (6hdc, 1 puff st) x 5, 2hdc, 2ch, turn. (right side)

  • Next 4 rows - 1 hdc in ea st to end, 2ch, turn.
  • 2hdc, 1 puff st, hdc to last 3 sts, 1 puff st, 2hdc, 2ch, turn. (pop puff through to right side of work if you need to). ****

Repeat previous 5 rows (from **** to *) 5 times.

  • Next 4 rows - 1hdc in ea st to end, 2ch, turn.
  • 2hdc, 1 puff st, (6hdc, 1 puff st) x 5, 2hdc, 1ch, turn.
  • 1 row of single crochet, ch 1 and work a round of rev sc around the outer edge of the square, finish off.

I stitched a row of chain st on the surface of both of the squares just inside the ‘studs’, then went around again and oversewed the chain to make a more defined line detail.

Bikini top
Made from 2 triangles with the ‘studded’ edging.
Each triangle will measure approx. 19cm across the bottom of the triangle and be 17cm high.

(Make 2)
5.0mm hook and Charcoal Blend yarn, foundation single crochet 26.

  • Ch 2, 1hdc in ea of next 2sts, 1 puff st in next st, (6hdc, 1 puff st) x 3, 2hdc, 2ch, turn. (right side).
  • 1hdc in ea st across, 2ch, turn. (26hdc)
  • Next 4 rows: hdc 2 together, 1hdc in ea st to end, 2ch, turn.
  • hdc2tog, 1 puff st in next st, 16hdc, 1 puff st, 2hdc, 2ch, turn.
  • Next 4 rows: hdc 2 together, 1hdc in ea st to end, 2ch, turn.
  • hdc2tog, 1 puff st in next st, 11hdc, 1 puff st, 2hdc, 2ch, turn. (push puff sts to right side)
  • Next 4 rows: hdc 2 together, 1hdc in ea st to end, 2ch, turn.
  • hdc2tog, 1 puff st in next st, 6hdc, 1 puff st, 2hdc, 2ch, turn.
  • Next 4 rows: hdc 2 together, 1hdc in ea st to end, 2ch, turn.
  • hdc2tog, 1hdc, 1 puff st in next st, 1hdc, hdc2tog, 2ch, turn. (push puff st to right side)
  • hdc2tog, 1hdc, hdc2tog, 2ch, turn.
  • hdc3tog, ch1, with right side facing you, work a row of reverse single crochet around piece, finish off.

I stitched a row of chain st on the surface of both of the triangles just inside the ‘studs’, then went around again and oversewed the chain to make a more defined line detail.

Wrist Bands(Make 2);
Ch 34, 1hdc in 3rd ch from hook, hdc to end, 2ch, turn.

  • 2hdc, 1 puff st in next st, (6hdc, 1 puff st) x 3,hdc to end, 2ch, turn.
  • hdc to end, 1ch, rev sc around, finish off.

Arm Bands/Ankle Bands (Make 2);
Ch 52, 1hdc in 3rd ch from hook, hdc to end, 2ch, turn.

  • 2hdc, 1 puff st in next st, (6hdc, 1 puff st) x 5,hdc to end, 2ch, turn.
  • hdc to end, 1ch, rev sc around, finish off. I attached a square of Velcro to close and also allow for adjustment. With the right side of your piece facing up, sew a ‘spiky’ square of Velcro on to the end that does not have a puff stitch. Turn your piece over and sew the ‘soft’ piece of Velcro to the other end of your piece - under the first puff st.
