This little koala is heading to America to a dear friend who is a koala-crazy midwife!
The lapel pin is from www.jubly-umph.com .
Nose
Using black yarn, l made a simple rectangle slightly bigger than the size of the nose that l wanted. To turn it into the oval nose shape, l stitched an oval shape (around the outer edge of the rectangle… cutting the corners). Pull up the yarn , tuck corners in and stitch nose in place - stuff lightly.

Rnd 4: (2sc, inc) around. (24)
Rnd 5: (3sc, inc) around. (30)
Rnd 6: (4sc, inc) around. (36)

Rnd 11: (8sc, dec) around. (54)
To create the outer edge of the ear;
Fold the circle in half and working through BOTH layers sl st into the next stitch. From here, to make a rough edge, l randomly worked 1ch up to 5ch then sl st into the next st….to the end - leave a long tail for sewing ear to head.
Before sewing ear into place, run a stitch along the straight edge and pull to gather, then sew to head.
Inner Ear
Using white yarn, chain 8.
1sc in 2nd ch from hook, then work loop sts to end, ch 1, turn.
Work 2 sc, 3 loop sts, 2 sc, finish off leaving a tail for sewing.
Clip loops and brush out yarn to make it fluffy.
Stitch base section into inner ear.
I placed the surgical cap onto the head before stitching the ears in place.
Sew ears to head - pin into place to check ear position before attaching - stitch through the surgical cap and into the head.
