Notes

My NaKniSweMo entry for 2013 is going to be this lovely cardigan with cables. In previous years I’ve gone for something in aran weight or chunky, so this should be more of a challenge to complete in the time. And the top down, set in sleeves picked up after the body is worked will be a new technique for me.

Pattern Notes

The instructions for the decreases on the body are confusing. It says to repeat rows X and Y 8 times, but that should be 8 times more, making a total of 9 decreases, for the stitch counts to match.

There’s also an error in the pattern in the waist decreases for the body. It says to repeat rows X and Y, then to do a further 7 rows without further shaping before starting the increases. This would leave you starting the bust increases on a WS row, when the pattern says to start them on a RS row. You either need to do 8 more rows, or 7 rows after the last decrease instead of 5 (listed as Y) and then 7 more.

Buttonhole placement is very tricky - even if you count a strict 20 rows as the pattern suggests I still can’t make it add up to 6 buttons, regardless of whether I put in the extra rows at the waist or not. So mine will have 7 buttons.

I’ve changed the m1 increases in the body for M1L and M1R to match the slanted decreases lower down.

There are two further errors on the instructions for the fronts. For the fourth size you should decrease on the neck shaping 3 times, not 5 as listed (5 decreases would leave you short of stitches for the 3 needle cast off for the shoulders). And there is no instruction to complete armhole and neck shaping AT THE SAME TIME. Doing them sequentially would look a bit weird!

Spacing the sleeve decreases every 8 rounds instead of 9, starting with round 5.
