Notes

I used to have a bright pink cashmere cardigan (shop bought) that I always wore when I had a sore head. But I went through the elbows of my hangover cardigan and I had to (very reluctantly) part with it. So I thought I’d make a replacement, in a pink just as bright, and a yarn equally as smooshy.

This is a very quick and straight forward knit and a very clever pattern. Starting with a strip for the collar and then picking up stitches along the edge for the back avoids the poor fit issues I normally have with raglan sweaters.

Pattern Notes

I knitted this on slightly smaller needles than the pattern called for because I like a slightly denser texture. My tension on 5.5mm needles was about 4.8 stitches to the inch. But multiplied up that gave a final high bust measurement of 38”, which is exactly the fit I like to aim for.

To compensate for the different tension I added some extra rows in the yoke before dividing the sleeves and body. That means my sleeves are a little looser.

I also picked up 6 stitches at each underarm to counteract the inevitable gapping that you otherwise get. The downside of this is that the feature columns of stocking stitch don’t perfectly match at the underarm. But it’s a much better fit.

I didn’t use the full 5 skeins - there was about 80g left at the end, so it took a little over 4 skeins (about 900 yards in total).
