This year’s 6 Nations knitting challenge involves the scariness of steeks. So, this pattern, with its straight opening and colourwork limited to the yoke, seemed the right one to try. And I can make it from stash yarn too!

Pattern Notes

Getting tension bang on using 3.25mm Addis. Aiming for the usual 38” as that’s my high bust measurement and I don’t like things too loose. Moved down to 3mm Addis for the rest of the body.

Swapped the yo k2tog buttonholes in the pattern - which come up very small and aren’t very neat - for one row buttonholes over four stitches.

Crocheted the steek as per Kate Davies’s instructions. Did this, and cut the steek after finishing the body and before starting the sleeves so I could check the sleeve length.

Picked up the neckband stitches through the top of the steek stitches for a neater finish.
