This pattern is essentially the same as this, but starts by creating ear flaps first and then continuing on in the pattern below:

Total stitches should be 120 - add 46 for front and 36 for back.

5 rows of k1, p1 ribbing

Pattern:
row 1: p1, k4 - repeat to end
row 2: p1, k4, p1, k1, p2, k1 - repeat to end
row 3: p1, cable k4, p1, k4 - repeat to end
row 4: p1, k4, p1, k1, p2, k1 - repeat to end
row 5: p1, k4 - repeat to end
row 6: p1, k4, p1, k1, p2, k1 - repeat to end

Ear flaps start with 9 stitches. add a st on each side every other row until there are 19 st for earflap.
end on a cable row.

repeat these rows until had measures approx. 5 in and then start decrease rows.

The shimmer yarn is really nice to work with, very soft and has just a little sparklyness to it - not too overwhelming.
