Antoine wants a “Starwars” vest for his birthday…

• first challenge : I had to find a good picture with both r2d2 & c3po… and transfer it into a knittable intarsia chart… many thanks to Pascale who gave me a fantastic link : http://www.microrevolt.org/knitPro/ first : decrease color range of original pix with adobe photoshop second : use Pascale’s link to convert into chart third (last but not least!) : use Paint to correct chart and get only the 11 colorways needed
• Antoine wants a black backward… so let’s do it ! We chose Phildar Lambswool as I have many colors in my stash and knit the vest with 3mm needles
• pattern inspired from phildar #040-T10-231 (st count)… but modified shoulder shaping and armhole hem… so may be far from original pattern at last

back : all black
CO 98 sts
20 rows in 1x1 rib with 2.5mm needles (5cm)
change to st. st. and 3mm needles
decrease evenly to 90sts on first row
96 rows in st.st. (26cm)
armhole shaping (4 + 3x3 + 2x2)
shoulder shaping at 18cm from beginning of armhole (i.e. approx 62 rows higher) with short-rows (3 x 5 for each shoulder, neck = 18 central sts + 1x4 on each side)

intarsia chart is 78 sts wide and 87 rows high

I’m far from being an intarsia master but I’m quite pleased with the result and Antoine too !!!
