KAL with CelticCastOn, starting Sept. 24. Hoping to keep my progress blogged.
Used approx. 414g/792 yards for sweater body.
No mods, knit to pattern: small. Sweater pieces grew when blocking, fit is perfect.
9/24:
Cast on 71 for back for size small. I went with 11s. I used another sweater in eco wool as a gauge swatch, with 13s I got 16 sts/4” and 20 rp/4”. And… I am ripping and going with 10.5. I’m not liking the fabric it’s making, seems too loose to me. I managed to get back to the pattern set up row, this is much better on 10.5s.
9/25:
Did my first cross over for the trellis cable. Note to self: Row 13 work BDKC instead of FDKC in order for cables to be properly woven. Also, since I was knitting away, I did the first body decrease at about 5.50”, and since I probably will make it a little longer, I don’t think it will matter.
9/26:
Did second body decrease just shy of 6.5”. I’m 3 Trellis cable repeats into the back panel.
9/27:
Did third body decrease just shy of 6.5” to match second body decrease. Third decrease marker is at 17.25” from cast on edge. Finished the back. From cast on to bind off measures about 25.5”, unblocked, should easily block to 27”. Will probably cast on for sleeves tonight, debating 2 at a time, since they are both the same.
I went with 2 at a time. Cast on this evening.
10/01:
Worked to about 8.75” in the sleeves.
10/02:
Blocked back piece, it grew substantially. It should measure 27” total, it is 29”. Worked 3rd sleeve increases, finished the night at 12.5”.
10/03:
4th increase complete, sleeves measure 14”.
Began working sleeve decreases every row.
10/04:
Sleeves finished. I didn’t knit them longer than the pattern states since I knew they would grow (mid section measured 18” not 15” when blocking)
Cast on for LEFT front.
10/06:
Worked left front to 18”.
10/07:
Finished LEFT front. Cast on and worked set up rows for RIGHT front.
10/08:
Worked to almost the 3rd decrease.
10/09:
Knitting complete! Blocking front pieces. Debating belt. I have 94g remaining, if I do, I’ll use Serafinapekkala’s notes.
10/10:
Started seaming. Seaming finished. Hoping to get pictures tomorrow.
11/17: Finally found matching thread. Now if I can find my hook and eye closures I’m going to add a few to the chest area so I don’t have to hold it closed while chasing 2 small children…
