1/27 - my MIL sent me like SEVENTEEN photos of Billy in his sweater. And that’s edited down to the best of them. She takes a lot of pictures. Anyway, the first photo is from her, you can see it on him a little better there since he’s not moving… much. ;-)
1/11 - got an “action” shot from my SIL. It’s still way big on him (he just turned 1) but I’m thinking it might actually fit him at 24 mos.
I checked the pattern measurements against the CYC sizing standards (unfortunately, after all the pieces were knit), and I think the sizing is a bit off on the pattern. My gauge is on, the finished pieces measured what they should (30” chest, for example), but according to CYC the actual chest measurement for a 24-month-old (the size I made) is 20”. 10” of ease sounds like, oh, a bit much for a toddler, don’tcha think? At least it will fit Billy eventually (maybe in 3 or 4 years…).
I’m using a self-patterning yarn instead of creating the stripes with two different colors. And I’m making no effort to match up the stripes since the repeats are too long.
11/6 - Realized that when I started the neck shaping on the back, I completely skipped over the “work these stitches for 9 rows” part (on BOTH sides of the neck, making the same mistake twice).
11/7 - Finished the front and redid the neck and shoulder shaping on the back to the proper length.
11/8 - Started the first sleeve (was trying them 2 at a time, knitting flat, but something wasn’t working so I’m doing them one at a time).
11/16 - Finished first sleeve & started second.
11/20 - Finished second sleeve at knit-in. Just need to put it all together and finish the neckline!
12/4 - Nope, still haven’t started seaming. It’s still on the bed with the blocking pins in it.
12/7 - All seamed up! It’s done except for two buttons. The seaming was easier than I thought and it looks great, IMHO! :)
12/11 - Found the perfect buttons. Will finish up this weekend. Still admiring my seams. :)
12/13 - Sewed on the buttons at the yarn shop today. All done and “cute as all get out!”
