Notes

Beautiful sock design with slip stitches, giving a zigzag effect. Easy to follow pattern, neat layout.

Test notes:

Size:
I planned to cast on for size 3, but found out when reaching the heel, that I only did cast on 65 sts instead of 75… So I made a hybride between different sizes, with a 30 stitch heel, and 35 foot sts. See notes below.
This pattern makes it easy to switch between different sizes, so it wasn’t a problem at all.

Needles:
2.0 mm for most parts. 2.25 mm
for slip stitch patterns on the cuff only.
I did use the Addi Novel Long needles for the first time. It took some time to get used to them, but now I love them.

Pattern gauge:
36 sts/50 rnds in stockinette = 10 cm

My gauge, unwashed:
37 sts/ 72 rnds in slip stitch pattern (2.25 mm needle).
38 sts/ 48 rnds in stockinette (2.0 mm needle).

My gauge, washed:

Yarn amount when starting:
Skein 1: 49 g. 33 g used for 1st sock (16 g left).
Skein 2: 50 g. 33 g used for 2nd sock (17 g left).
Used total: 66 g.

Project notes:

  • German Twisted CO. Cast on 35 on 1st needle, 30 on 2nd needle (2nd will be the heel needle)
  • Cuff: Rnds 4-9 worked 1 more time to reach pattern length.
  • Leg: 22 knit rnds after chart rnd 12. Length from cast on edge: 13.5 cm.
  • Heel: worked over 30 sts, while 35 sts are on hold. Chart repeated 4x + 1 RS row, 6.5 cm (42 rows).
  • Heel turn: size 1 (30 sts).
  • Gusset, foot: the two decrease rows were worked down to 30 sts, then placed a marker in next rnd. Count 13 rnds from marker before foot chart (= 11 cm shorter than desired sock length which is 24 cm).
  • Foot chart: before the chart, move the 2 outer sts from foot to sole needle (= 33 foot, 32 sole sts). Follow chart size 3, for 33 sts. / Foot chart rnds 1-20 worked twice before toe shaping = 6 cm (5 cm shorter than foot length).
  • Toe: With 65 sts, there is one stitch too much, will be decreased in last row. Decrease rnds: rnd 1, 37/36 sts between dec. Repeat rnds 2-3 until 33 (17+16) sts remain. Rep rnd 3 only until 17 (9+8) sts remain, then in next rnd, dec foot center st in addition to side dec = 12 sts.
