I got the pattern from the Wearing History blog: https://wearinghistoryblog.com/2014/10/free-knitting-patt....

The pattern calls for 24” before separating into two sides and working the neck edge. Then you work another 6” to get to the top of the underarm. It’s extremely stretchy so I’m sure some of the length gets lost when it stretches out, but I can’t imagine it’s that much. 30” below the armscye seems extraordinarily long to me. 30” is roughly to my knees. 6” is almost my underarm to waist measurement. I ended up knitting the pieces just under 18” before splitting for the bust.

The gores are supposed to narrow by a stitch in every row, but since my gauge is 21 rows to the inch, that’s not practical. I reduced much less often so that my gores were about 7” long.

I really hated the scallops at the neck (shown in one picture) since they looked heavy and the neck gets gathered up a lot across the front and back so I ripped them back out and left the neck done after what was meant to be the penultimate row. Instead of the scallops around the armscyes and bottom edge, I used that penultimate row from the neck. The pattern called for five rows of mesh around the armscyes, but the image definitely didn’t show that much, and I didn’t want that much so I just did two rows, which gave me more the look of the pattern image.

The pattern calls for 2.5 yd of 1” ribbon and 2.5 yd of very narrow ribbon. I’m really not clear on how that’s supposed to work. I ended up using about 7.5 yd of 3/8” ribbon. It could have stood to be 1/4”, but the store didn’t have that. I wove ribbons through the mesh at the bust but not at the hip, even though the picture looks like maybe they’re supposed to be woven in at the hip. (The white in the mesh is the indication I was using for where ribbons go.)
