Notes

The first project on the Structo. I’m still learning weaving terms, though I did calculate the sett and I can already tell I was off with the EPI based on my handspun’s WPI (I’m not very good with WPI, which is the heart of the problem). Also, I suspect I’m going to have to add in another weft yarn because I thought about but didn’t calculate how much I’d need for both warp & weft.

June 27 - finished project notes

I didn’t have enough handspun to weave the whole thing, so this ended up being 2 pieces. When I finished the first one, I cut it off the loom, retied the warp, and continued weaving with yarn I had left over from other projects (the Kidsilk Haze from Lichen and WildMeadow handspun that started as the Comfortneck but became The Felted Handspun Coat). I finished both pieces by knotting the warp with square knots, 4 threads at a time, and need to check for better ways to finish and see what I should do for wet-blocking/finishing.

The birds-eye piece is 3 5/8” wide x 28 1/2” without fringe, the plain weave piece is 3 5/8” wide x 36” without fringe - an even yard. I couldn’t have planned that if I’d tried.

What should these be? Wall hangings? Handles for something? Belts? It hasn’t come to me yet. I’m open to suggestions.
