Notes

I went to the Grateful Dead shows in Chicago over the weekend. I was a deadhead through my teens and had been at the last show there in 95, and I was so excited to go back. The parking garage that I paid for opened at 6 am that morning, and so I parked there early with the rest of the day to wander about Chicago. I packed up a couple of snacks, my camera, and the pattern for Lise, along with my yarn, and found a shady, grassy spot outside of a museum, and happily started crocheting away, with a gentle breeze and bright sunshine streaming down all around me.

So many kind people came up to see what I was doing, marveled at my “knitting hook” and chatted as I worked this square up, that I know it has to be infused with all the joy and happiness that was in Chicago last weekend. I wove the final ends in at the last rest stop I pulled into on the drive home, surrounded by a thick morning fog and a bright red rising sun.

I’m going to love this square forever.
