After finishing the huge lace shawl, I was in for a change. Frogging an old project gave me the yarn to work with.

It took a bit to find the pattern for this beauty:

This is my first Aran project. I was a bit scared seeing the chart and the bobbles and many many crossed cables, but now I feel confident enough to knit mostly without looking at the chart.

I changed the instructions for the bobbles.
knit through the back of the loop:
k1 yo k1
ppp
kkk
ppp
s1 k2tog through back, lift the slipped loop over the one on the right needle. pull tight.

A hint for the bobbles:
on 1 crossing and 3 crossings bobbles are made 1 stitch away from the outer zigzag cable, which is turned around at the same row.
A hint for the outer cable:
after the 2 crossing row, just knit straight up, start shifting again at the next 2 crossing.
A hint for the 2nd cable:
only 1 row straight: the 1 crossing row. all others shift.
A hint for shifting:
The outer cable shift is always 1 space, all inner cables are always 2 spaces. Except when the outer cable is knit straight up, then the 2nd cable shifts only 1 space.
I hope this makes sense for posterity
