This was going to be the Gathered Front Tank, but I’m really in a lacy place right now and thought that I might actually finish a lacy tank. Ripped out the 10 rows I had finished on 4/9/12 and CO for the Lace Tank.
And oh, heaven, it’s worked in the round. LOVE IT.
4/18 So I got to the end of the lace repeats and held my knitting up and thought “my, that looks a bit long!” So I measured it. And while I do not remember the exact measurement of hem to about-to-separate-for-the-armholes at that point, I do remember looking at the diagram and thinking it was a good 4 to 6 inches longer than it should be, and the extra length came in at the lace. SO with much gnashing of teeth, I ripped the lace part out and carefully picked the stitches back up where the lace began. I re-knit the lace section on US 7. When at the end of the section with the stst in the front, I held my knitting up and thought, my, that stst looks better than the rest of the tank! After discussion with the DH, I decided to continue on. He said the body of the tank looked great to him (the untrained eye) and that most of the eyes that see it will be untrained, and it’ll be fine. And why rip out weeks of work? I thought he had a point and went ahead with finishing the lace panel on the 7’s. After 3 and a half repeats, I was already at the 4” the diagram says the 7 repeats should give me, so I am going ahead with the armholes after I finish this 4th repeat. I really don’t understand why my lace is so much taller than it should be. I think I’ll go down to a size 6 (ended up being a 5) for my smaller needle, even though I am not sure at this point when it comes into playl.
4/24. It. Fits. Perfectly. So happy.
