3/10/13- Started project.
3/17/13-Finished back.
3/18/13-Started front.
3/19/13-Started intarsia.
3/26/13- Very thankful to Fiona’s project notes: stating to sew in & finish ends every 10 rows to try to keep things neat. I’ve been doing that every 7 to 9 rows. And her advice to use post-its has been invaluable.
3/31/13- YAY! On Row 49 (picture #3) more than halfway finished. I purchased the KnitPicks bobbins. While some people may like them, I found them to be heavy and they tended to unwind and tangle easily. I prefer to make my own butterflies which are easy to move around, light, and much more manageable…at least for me. I keep a bag filled with all the colors and pull out the color that I need when I need it. Once I weave in ends, if any is left over on the butterfly, it goes back into the bag.
4/7/13 - I’m averaging 2 rows an hour. Sundays are my “weaving in days”…at least 100 to 150 ends. EEEKKK! But it is soooo worth it. Baby steps. On Row # 59.
4/28/13 - Done. I guess I am a process knitter. I loved the process more than the finished object. I suppose that’s why I love the process of psychotherapy more than the cure (my profession). I learned so much while knitting this sweater…the most important thing being: no task is too big when you break it down into small bites. Some days I only could do one row of knitting. There were three days in a row many times that were spent sewing in ends. I also learned that sometimes you have to do something you absolutely hate to achieve something you will absolutely love. And most important, I learned far more than the thing I set out to learn…intarsia.
