Notes

My sister is currently living in New Orleans, and (to my (Native New Yorker dismay) has become a Saints fan. Thanks to the nice folks in the New Orleans group, I learned that Cascade 220 Superwash in 877 is a good standby for Saints gold.

I wanted to make something that would still be used if she moved away from New Orleans. Since it would have to fit a double bed, I also wanted to make something relatively quick. So I am using a classic Double Irish Chain quilting design made with granny squares.

I’m using my trusty Tulip Etimo comfort hook. I estimate that it will take me almost 57 hours just to make the squares (averaging 9 minutes per square).

You can find all of my blog posts about this blanket here.

Updated 2/12/12: I finished all of the squares last night! Now I just need to make a border and weave in all the ends…

Updated 2/20/12: Just finished 4 rounds of gold granny borders.

Updated 3/24/12: I added one round of black granny border, then 7 rows each of granny stripe borders on the right and left sides, then one final sc border.

Updated 4/10/12: Just a reminder, in case I ever forget again - don’t wait until the end to weave in all the ends!!!!!

Updated 4/11/12: Yay, I finished this off and mailed it off to my sister today!
