I started this a while back. I’m going to guess in 2007 based on two bits of memory:
1) I quilted a lot between 2005 and 2007, and then around 2007 stopped quilting very much and started finding other uses for fabric.
2) I showed this to my very first class of DC 37 beginner crochet students in September, 2008 to show that you could crochet with fabric.
I stopped making it when I realized I wasn’t the kind of person who would have yarn bowls made of fabric, and also, the giant hook hurt my hand.
The “yarn” was 1” strips of a fabric called something like Enter the Dragon that I bought from Hancock Fabrics. I thought the dragons were going to be small, but they were huge panels so I didn’t have a real project for them. I cut the entire piece (which I think was 3 yards) into one inch strips and then sewed them together on the machine to make this yarn.
It was probably about 1/3 done. It was very exciting to unravel it and take pictures :).
