I’m working on a simple beanie for Knit and Crochet Design Week.

This will be used, at least temporarily, as a classroom sample for my DC 37 knitting classes. I’m designing a simple beanie made on circular needles along with my students.

I’m using Addi Lace needles (40”) that I bought at Knitty City and some Spud and Chloe Sweater that was in my yarn stash.

I’m calling this the Kwisatz Haderach because of the combination of the sandstorm stitch pattern and the blue, which reminds me of the blue eyes of those who ingest the spice melange on Arrakis in Dune.

Updated May 2012: I haven’t worked on this in ages, because I’m not happy with the rate of decrease that I used. I will need to rip back, but I might even pull it out all the way. We’ll see.

Updated 5/26/12: I decided to pull this out. I really love this version and since I didn’t have a plan for this hat, I decided to use the yarn for something else.
