For those who don’t want a slouchy tam; I made this tam a little smaller than the original.

After the fair isle band I only knit 3.25 inches before beginning the crown shaping. The resulting squeezzy blob of hat looked waaaay to small and scrunched, and did not fit.

Enter the wonders of blocking! I washed it in a mild delicious smelling soap, rinsed it well, and stuck that sucker on a 10” mid century modern plate. My new summer tam fits beautifully!
