Notes

I have been wanting to make one of these blankets for some time, but wanted to use the join as you go method. I had difficulty joining with the white and after asking Kathy77, have decided that it will be a little fiddly, but do-able.

Thought I would start with a baby blanket first and then if I get on alright, I may make a full size blanket for my bed using aran/worsted weight yarn.

Notes

I wanted a flower hexagon, so this is what I ended up doing after several false starts.

4 chain and join to make a ring.
R1: 3ch 2dc cluster, ch 3 (3 dc cluster, ch 3) until 6 clusters, ending with a ch1 and hdc into starting 3rd chain, to keep st centralised for the next round.

R2: Ch 3, 1 dc into same ch 3 space, (2 dc, ch 2 2dc) into next ch3 space all around, ending with 2 dc, ch 2 and joining with the starting 3rd ch.

I used the join as you go method in the 2nd round for subsequent hexagons to make a centre and petals all around.

I finished off by working half hexagons on the top and bottom of the blanket and added a little wavy edging to replicate the sides.

Quite an enjoyable blanket to make, but I don’t think I will be making another one soon.
