Silk Blend is a wonderful, very soft yarn with a slightly felted texture. Although it has approx. the same yardage as the yarn originally used, I use 3.5 mm needles. Made a large swatch which was very useful, as size changes dramatically after washing (due to the silk content). I also made a swatch with the ribbing for the waist line. It is very stretchy so that I can stick to the pattern. I will have to add some extra rows to the skirt.
I left one stockinette stitch inbetween the decreases and the knit stitch as they tend to travel sidewards if the decreases are knit without any space.

Silk Blend ist ein sehr schönes, sehr weiches Garn mit einer leicht filzigen Textur. Obwohl es ungefähr die gleiche Lauflänge wie das Originalgarn hat, stricke ich es mit Nadelstärke 3,5. Ich habe eine sehr große Maschenprobe angefertigt, was sehr hilfreich war, da sich der Strick nach dem Waschen aufgrund des Seiden-Anteils in der Größe sehr verändert. Ich habe auch eine Maschenprobe von der Rippenpartie für die Taille gemacht. Dieser Teil ist sehr elastisch, so dass ich mich auch hier an die Angaben der Anleitung halten kann. Ich werde jedoch den Rock um einige Reihen länger stricken. Zwischen den rechts verschränkten Maschen und den Abnahmen lasse ich jeweils eine linke Masche, da die rechten Maschen sonst zur Seite verlaufen.

It was a lot of fun knitting the dress. I learned a lot about the possibilities of shaping. However, I had some trouble with the short rows in the yoke section. I have some experience with short rows (I do them the “German way” - instead of wrapping and turning I use the so-called ‘Doppelmasche“/double stitch), but never used them on reverse stockinette ground.

I wanted the short rows to be nearly invisible as they are in a very prominent position. I did some experiments, for example I knit the last stitch before turning and doing the double stitch instead of purling it which was almost invisible in the swatch (which was not knit in the round…). In the end, the short rows didn’t work out as perfectly as I wanted them to be, but the dress is still very beautiful! Mari did a very good job, and I thank her very much for answering all my questions.

I only knit 40 rows in the yoke as wanted it to be a little lower.

If I planned to knit it again, I most certainly knit it in the round, leave out the short rows in the sleeves and try to place the yoke shaping some rows before binding off. This would also mean that there would be no seams in the raglan section, which would look neater in my opinion.

For all those of you who plan to knit it: There is a mistake in the scheme (not in the instruction): the measurements for the raglan/yoke section are wrong. It measures 8”/20cm.

Es hat mir sehr viel Spaß gemacht, das Kleid zu stricken, und ich habe viel über Formgebung gelernt. Allerdings bereiteten mir die verkürzten Reihen einige Probleme. Ich habe schon oft mit verkürzten Reihen gearbeitet (ich verwende Doppel- statt Wickelmaschen), allerdings noch nie auf glatt links gestricktem Grund.

Mein Ziel war es, die verkürzten Reihen so unsichtbar wie nur möglich zu arbeiten, da sie sich an sehr prominenter Stelle befinden. Ich habe ein wenig herumexperimentiert - z. B. habe ich die letzte Masche vorm Wenden nicht links, sondern rechts gestrickt. Im Swatch sah das sehr gut aus - den habe ich allerdings nicht in der Runde gestrickt. Schlussendlich sind die Verkürzungen nicht so perfekt geworden, wie ich es mir gewünscht hätte. Aber das Kleid ist dennoch wunderschön! Mari hat ein sehr anspruchsvolles Design entwickelt und ich danke ihr sehr dafür, dass sie alle meine Fragen beantwortet hat.

Im oberen Bereich habe ich allerdings nur 40 statt 60 Runden gestrickt, da der Ausschnitt etwas tiefer sitzen sollte.

Wenn ich das Kleid noch einmal stricken würde, dann würde ich es sicher in Runden stricken, die Verkürzungen bei den Ärmeln weglassen und die Verkürzungen für die Ausschnitte viel weiter oben positionieren. Das würde auch bedeuten, dass es keine Raglannähte gäbe und das Kleid in dem Bereich somit eine - in meinen Augen - sauberere Optik hätte.

Eine Info für jene, die das Kleid stricken möchten: Die Maßangaben für den yoke sind falsch (in der Anleitung jedoch richtig): Er ist 8”/20cm hoch.
