Notes

Sett 20 epi 20 inches in the reed
5/2 perle cotton

7 yards for 6 large towels.
On the loom 20” wide and wove for 30 inches which included a 1 inch plain weave hem at each end.

I used a coat rack as a trapeze to help warp. My loom has a sectional beam which I warp in the traditional back to front way, I do not have sectional warping equipment.

Warp is random stripes of 5, 10 or 15 ends of each of 7 colors.

Weaving is sometimes random stripes of 6, 12 or 18 picks of a color. Some towels were regular stripes of 18 picks of each color. One towel was a solid darker blue weft. (I bought and extra mini cone of the darker blue).

The loose threads on the warp beam were not an issue once I was weaving and didn’t seem to cause a problem.

I wove three in 2013 for the towel exchange at The Weavers Guild of Greater Cincinnati, cut them off and retied (actually wove in and used glue to attach to a second apron rod and tied it to the first) Then everything languished for a year while worked on a loom at the guild and did lots of rigid heddle weaving (I started to teach it more and had to make lots of samples).

Finally sat down to weave off the last three towels last week. (June ‘14) Washed and Hemmed Sept. 9
