I had spare yarn from hats that just happened to be Cmas colors, and this was just so fun to do after having really large projects for most of the year.

I chose to knit the design on DPN’s in a straight needle method, and then at the heel, join to knit in the round. I also chose to do a wrap and turn for the heel instead of the heel instructions that are in the pattern. This made the heel a lot less angled, but I also decreased by one 12 stitches into the center of the stocking before joining, and then decreasing one at each corner of the heel after it was done. Doing so made the angle of the toe part of the stocking smaller, and jutt out a bit, and it kept it simple with the heel to knit in the round.

I found it too difficult to knit two sides of a heel and then sew the seam together. So the heel is the same as the main color, and I added color for the toe portion. I did all 8 patterns with each main color (red, green, and gold), and switched up the accent color depending on the main color.

Green used white and gold
and Gold used red and green

This gave me 24 stockings, and the 25th was a red trim and toe, with a white main color, and a green tree design for the final Christmas day advent stocking.

I love these tiny little things!! And they only take about 2 hours each.

I have 4 stockings left to do, and am realizing that I will run out of Green before I can finish the complete set. I’m thinking of doing a red, white, gold stripe stocking if i do run out, and using as many other colors for the etc as possible.

This means the set won’t truly be consistent, but since I’m doing this to use up yarn, I’m reluctant to just buy more green.
