Notes

These are the first ever toe-up socks for me. I have two skeins of the yarn and I like longer socks, so toe-up is a good option. I used the cast-on where you crochet a chain of waste-yarn to start on. It took me a time or two to get it right, but I am happy with the results.

Every time I knit socks, I go down to a smaller sized needle. I am using Brittany Birch 0’s and it looks like I am knitting with long toothpicks!

This yarn looked like it would knit up “tweedy” so I wanted to use a pattern with a bit of a design element to keep the socks from getting boring. My swatch knitted up with and even, all-over tweedy look also. Now that I am getting into the sock, there are apparently pools of brown which make stripes. I am not quite certain how I like the stripes mixing with the lace pattern. I would have probably used a more “plain” pattern with just some ribs if I had known about the stripes. I am not far enough along in the pattern to judge for certain.

Daughter has “claimed” these as her own…they are a little short to go all the way to her knees, but they do look better on her legs, than mine since she is so thin!
