Notes

2 Feb I needed a simple project to do whilst watching the end of the Australian Open tennis, this seemed ideal. The bottom portion is very easy, the split for the top looked tricky but was actually okay. I’m using interchangeable needles, so I put an endstop on each cord and and using them as straights, knitting from one to the other. Keeping track of all the decreases and increases is a little tricky, but just needs a little concentration.

I’ve got three balls of one dyelot and two of another (part of the great Kemps haul!), I used the one I had three of for the body, thinking that would be the larger portion, then changed for the top part, but I’ve only used two for the body, I hope I can get away with two for the top too. I’ll do the fronts first in case I don’t, a change on the back should be less noticeable than on the front.

The Wool Cotton is lovely to work with, very smooth and sproingy, the stitches are slightly lobsided but it hasn’t biased.

8 Feb - finished. I ran out of the two balls of the second dyelot halfway up the back (I did the fronts first) but I’ve looked at it in daylight and electric light and can’t see a difference, so I think I’ve got away with it. I’ve tried it on and it looks okay, although it’s not something I’d normally wear, I’m hoping that now I’ve made it it’ll inspire me to wear this style of top. It’s blocking now though as the bottom was curling up horribly, it’s pinned out within an inch of its life which will hopefully tame it a little.

I did an icord bindoff for the back of the neck, and graft it with the edge of the right front, it seemed easier than knitting four stitches and sewing them on. Once every group of five stitches I did a sssk to pull it in a little.

14 Feb Hmm, this looks better in the mirror than it does in the photos! I wasn’t sure that sleeveless tops are my thing, I’m still not convinced…. Never mind, it was a quick knit and it cost less than £2.50, so not much is lost :)
