This yarn has been sitting in my stash for years looking for a project, I think this is the right one for it! It’s different to the pattern yarn, much more stretchy and bouncy, but it seems to be okay, although I was a bit doubtful at the start.
The knitting’s going reasonably quickly considering the whole thing is in 2x1 rib, with just the occasional cable row (every ten rows) to relieve the monotony.
16 March - I’ve finished one sleeve and the back up to the shoulder shaping. I might change the front neckline to open it up a bit, I’ll see how it fits with the cables when I get there, then I’ll do the back shoulder shaping to fit with what I end up with on the front!
22 March - okay, I’m getting quite bored with 2x1 rib now. I’m about halfway up the cabled section of the front before the armholes. But I’m trying really hard to stick at it, I know that if I stop it could lurk for months in a bag somewhere…..
3 April - will this never end! I feel as though I’m in pink rib hell. I am over halfway up the second sleeve, so there’s not too far to go now, but I feel as though I’ll be seeing pink cables in my sleep forever more.
8 April - finished at last! I sewed it together at knitting group last night. I’m generally pleased with it, although the neck cast off still isn’t perfect, I tried the rib cast off the pattern said, but it was too untidy, so I just did it in knit, which looks better but is bulging a little at the back and the bottom of the front, I may try again and do some k2togs in those areas to pull it in. We’ll see. The photos are all headless as I’ve just got in and look exhausted in all of them! I’ll try and get some better ones at the weekend :)
Photos done! See my blog post here for final thoughts.
