Notes

10 Jan - Cast on in Wetherspoons in Edinburgh and knitted on train on way home! Could be a fairly long term project for whenever I need some mindless knitting.

I was good and swatched, and got gauge on 4mm needles.

16 Jan - the back is done. I wasn’t supposed to be working on this at home unless I was watching something I needed to concentrate on, like tennis, but the vast expanses of stocking stitch lured me in, it’s just so lovely and mindless! The yarn is very nice to work with too.

24 Jan - the front is done. The top needed a bit more concentration than the rest, with the moss stitch moving over, but it was pretty straightforward. I did short row shaping and a three needle bind-off for the shoulders. If I was doing this again I’d be tempted to do the buttonhole side of the front first, then pick up the five stitches for the back of the placket from the purl bumps on the back, instead of casting on and sewing it down.

26 Jan - the first sleeve is done. So much for a long term project - and that’s with doing Rogue at the same time. Just the second sleeve, collar and cuffs to go now, shouldn’t take long.

29 Jan - the second sleeve is done. I’ll block it whilst knitting the cuffs, then think about the best way to attach them….

1 Feb - finished! Just missed my end of January deadline, but no matter. I’m really pleased with it, it’s just how I imagined it would be. My camera is playing up, and despite taking about 30 photos with the self timer, only one was in focus, so that’s the one I’ve used. Perhaps I’ll have another go on a warmer day.

I’ve not put buttons on yet, there are holes for them, but I actually like it the way it is, so I may not bother. The only problem is that the neck falls open and makes the top of the sleeves look baggy, so it may be better with buttons, I’ll have a think about it.

I just slip-stitched the cuffs into place, they’ve worked nicely and give a plain jumper a little something to set it apart. Overall I’m very happy with this one!
