The plan is to knit this for my kiddo’s school’s annual fundraising auction.
April 13, 2014:
Last night I finished the first section of solid colour. I haven’t decided yet if I’m going to knit the medium or large. Luckily the number was the same for both at the end of section 1. With the second I’ll knit up to the stripes needed for the medium and see where I’m at with yarn and my will to keep knitting on this.
The fabric keeps rolling - a lot. I hope this doesn’t continue to be an issue further down the road!
April 17, 2014:
I originally was going to knit the medium size, but after realizing that I still have more than half of the contrasting yarn available, to just go ahead and knit the large size instead.
I’m super pleased that I’m a mere 3 stripes away from the border! I’m excited about the prospect that this shawl just might take me a week to knit up, especially since I thought this would take me a few weeks to do so. The due date to hand in items for the auction is 3 weeks away, so I’m thinking I might still have time to knit another shawl of sorts up after this one! Sweet!!
April 28, 2014:
I think I would have had this shawl completed within a week had I not had that slight mishap with the border - in which I totally dismissed my gut feelings and the red flags about how the border will curl like a mofo. I finally put the shawl in time out for half a week before deciding to frog the border and knit a garter stitch border. Must remember this for next time!! And trust me, there will be a next time as this pattern is quite fun to knit with all that striping action. Even though I made the large, it was still a quick knit for a shawl.
Leftover:
Bittersweet (brown) - 20g
Mesa (self-striping) - 27g
Mods:
- Changed “section 3 - border” to garter stitch
- Made increases in the border as per the pattern
- 7 ridges of garter before binding off
