Instead of 1x1 ribbing at waist, used garter stitch.

12/8 - Front and back sections done and now am finishing up shoulders. Pattern isn’t clear that you need to continue the cable pattern along the armhole edge when you’re decreasing the shoulders around the neckline … it simply says to knit/purl stitches to the end. You can see by the pictures in the book you need to keep cabling, though, so easy fix.

12/16 - Picture shows finished sweater prior to blocking. I ended up steam-blocking it so O could wear it to his Winterfest program at school. Came out very nice -- O said it was very warm and cozy and promptly threw it off after the festivities ended.

The color ran during blocking; definite pink water in my trusty salad/sweater spinner. After blocking, I got the bottom edge of the sweater to lie flat.
