I am having fun with this little sheep! I am not good at following patterns I know I have already made the head too big, but I think I can adjust. I am also using absurd colors but something is just calling me to make a little rainbow sheep. (Thus renaming the project) This first will probably end up as a gift for my daughter, who is always so appreciative of my crochet work.
The orange I am using for face and ears is a variegated orange cotton yarn I bought when I was shopping with my daughter… It was very early in my crochet revival and I did not know I was supposed to keep the yarn label. Just been having fun and experimenting with it.
1/3/13, 3:40am: Stayed up WAY too late, but his wonky little head is done… finally think I understand what the pattern meant about the ears, even though I am positive I did not do them quite right. And his snout is too short, but I like him. He has personality.
1/4/13: “He” is a She… that place where I sewed on the second ear was bugging me, so I crocheted a wee flower in white (!) crochet thread and put a pink bead in the center. So stylish now!
1/13/13: Most of the body is made. Oy vey! I cannot follow a pattern! Somehow when I was supposed to be at 55 stitches in the round and I had 25 - I hadn’t even been decreasing stitches (intentionally!) yet. I know I got up to at least 45 stitches - I have been trying to count them. I don’t have the heart to rip out half the body (which is probably what needs to be done - if not more!) I will finish this wee rainbow sheep’s body as well as I can, and try another one more in line with the actual pattern. There are some pretty funky looking popcorn stitches on her too! BUT, even if she is not quite put together to ‘specs’, I am happy with how she is turning out and my kids are pleased too.
Later… My poor sheep! She is not a Chubby Sheep, but a slightly scrawny one… She definitely needs legs. I think if she has legs she will be okay…
