Notes

Finally finished my second cushion for Woolsack.

I don’t know how true this is, but I read that certain Aran stitches are supposed to have certain meanings. Whether true or not I liked the idea of including them in a cushion so they could send an extra special good luck message.

So I included:-

Basket stitch -represents a fisherman’s basket and is an omen for a good catch – I hope it helps the recipient to catch lots of medals.

Cables - represents fisherman’s ropes a wish for good luck and safety. I wish them all the luck in the world.

Diamonds - represent the shape of a fishing net and success and wealth. I hope they have an extremely successful 2012 games.

Moss stitch said to represent abundance and growth. I hope the Olympics are a memorable experience that they never forget.

Honeycomb – represent the honey bee and particularly the rewards that come from hard work. Hopefully they will be rewarded for theirs!!!
