For fall 2016 mrs. Prada designed some epic sweaters for both the women’s and men’s collection. I kept pictures of these sweaters in my inspiration folder, but the thought of really experimenting with that stitch pattern came after a Mason Dixon blog post. That post led me to Anna Maltz’s instagram feed where there are a few pictures of her and other knitters efforts to reproduce the stitch pattern.

The need to crack the code of the ‘Prada stitch pattern’ became a bit of an obsession. It took me a day of knitting, frogging, charting and counting to get it sort of right. So, for a brief moment, I was really content; cracked the code, knitted the swatch, hurray for me, let’s move on.

Well, it did not work that way. The thought of what could be done with those little colored scallops was keeping me awake at night, and the itch could only be scratched by making something wearable.
So that is how I ended up with Miuccia. And this might very well be only the beginning…

This is not my design but something I reverse engineered, and because of that, I think it’s not really okay to explain exactly how it is done. I mean, I wouldn’t be to spiffy about it if someone did that to my patterns.
It involves short rows and a knit row on the WS. If you sit down and take your time, you can have a lot of fun figuring this out. And who am I to deprive you of that fun, no?
